“If you hate your parents, the man or the establishment, don’t show them up by getting wasted and wrapping your car around a tree. If you really want to rebel against your parents, out learn them, out live them, and know more than they do.

Moleskine PSD

Moleskine PSD

Worth downloading (free) if merely to see how the image was created, layer by layer. Be warned, it’s a pretty complex, processor-intense piece.

Lovely icon.  I’m curious to take a peek at the PSD to see the process.

A rare video of Andrew Wyeth painting a dry brush watercolor portrait of Tom Hoving.  Up to the time this video was shot, Wyeth had not let anyone record him painting.

Surrealist painter Jacek Yerka (or magic realist as lines and colors labels him) creates thumbnails of his worlds colored in crayon and then refines them in pastels to show to his family jury.  If his wife and daughters like the concepts, he will render the painting in acrylic.

Using knives, tweezers and surgical tools, Brian Dettmer carves one page at a time.  I can only imagine the planning this kind of project takes, yet alone the amount of work to carve the final piece.  Truly inspiring!

The Brilliant Line

The Brilliant Line

Fascinating look into the lines of the early engraver 1480-1650.  The lines and cross hatching are meticulous.
